LIGHTING STILL LIVES
Glass Light
Glass

Lighting Glass focuses on techniques used to control edge detail, reflection and glare on glass objects. It will also introduce you to techniques of edge lighting in general. Multiple different glass objects were photographed, however, these two photographs were the most interesting. After some refining, the three different tops, shapes, sizes, the condensation, and plexy glass gave the photograph an interesting effect with the reflecting white and black light.

Mirror Mirror
Direct/Diffuse Reflection

Direct/Diffuse Reflection focuses on the differences between direct reflection and diffuse reflection and how a photographer can use their understanding of these differences to manipulate the appearance of a shot. A small jewelry box and mirror seemed like the best focus for this still life, not simply because of the reflective properties of the mirror and jewelry, but also because of how the reflection in the mirror can bring the still more to life.

Romantic Light
Mixed Lighting

For this exercise I was meant to be creating two different images that combine continuous light sources and electronic strobe. For each of the two shots I had a different continuous light source as part of my subject. For this assignment, I used candles and lights that I hang up in my room. The first photograph I did was a simple one, just a buique of fresh roses and a candle. I tried not to make this one so complex, I wanted to make the still life look simple and old fashioned like, to make it a symbol that sometimes the simplest of things could mean everything. After that, I experimented with the lights and what I might be able to do with them. At first I draped them over things and put them in a wine glass but those seemed to common, but then I used a jewelry stand and raped the lights around them. As soon as I saw this look it reminded me for fashion and Paris, to continue with that style I placed rose pedals all around the figure.
